If you happened to find my humble little blog, I can only assume one of three things:
1) You stumbled here by accident
2) You heard of anal fistulas and are morbidly curious
3) You're a fellow fistula fighter (in which case, I'm very sorry!)
At the time of this post, I've had my fistula for about 8 (long!) months. Through trial and error I've managed to cobble together a care routine that works for me but that took a LOT of scouring the internet for any bit of advice I could find. One thing I noticed after being diagnosed with a rectal abscess and then a fistula (long story...I'll share it here later), is that there's not a lot of places online that a person can go to find information and survival tips in one spot. So, even though this can be a horribly embarrassing topic I figured, frig it! If what I have to say can help one person it's all worth it.
With that being said, two blogs in particular were amazingly helpful to me and I highly encourage you to visit them as well.

There are also two amazing Facebook groups. If you have any questions the sheer knowledge contained within these groups is incredible:
Abscess/Fistula Support for Women
Fistula Support Group
I suffered with a high complicated front facing anal fistula that went through both sphincter muscles for 8 months before deciding to travel to Pune India to have Kshar Sutra treatment with Dr. Bapat. If you are curious about Kshar Sutra treatment, have had Kshar Sutra treatment and would like to share your experience, or are undergoing Kshar Sutra, please request to join my closed, confidential Kshar Sutra support group on Facebook Please note - everything stated is my personal opinion. I do not advise going against the advice of your doctor. I am not a medical professional. Kshar Sutra treatment is only legal to practice in India. People choosing to travel to India to undergo Kshar Sutra treatment do so at their own risk.
